Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on Evan Ndicka, who recently won the UEFA Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt.
According to French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Evan Ndicka is set to be a wanted commodity in the summer transfer window as Manchester United and Tottenham are among the clubs interested in signing the Eintracht Frankfurt defender.
Ndicka is a product of the AJ Auxerre youth academy and moved to Frankfurt in 2018 after making 16 senior appearances for the French club. The 22-year-old made his debut for the German outfit soon after making the switch and has since gradually grown into a mainstay at the heart of the Eintracht defence.
Ndicka has racked up 139 appearances for the Eagles so far, even chipping in with ten goals and nine assists. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a memorable 2021/22 campaign as he played a key role in Eintracht Frankfurt winning the UEFA Europa League by beating Rangers on penalties earlier this week.
Ndicka’s rapid rise to stardom in Germany has not gone unnoticed, as several English clubs have been keeping a close eye on his progress. Now Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also hopped onto the bandwagon of clubs interested in the 22-year-old French ace heading into the summer.
Manchester United are set to begin a new chapter under a new manager in Erik ten Hag. And it seems like the Dutch tactician is focusing on rejigging his backline ahead of next season after a disastrous campaign this time out. Indeed, both Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire have been poor while summer signing Raphael Varane has struggled with injuries.
With Phil Jones and Eric Bailly set to be moved on in the summer, a new centre-back is a priority for Manchester United. A move for Ajax’s Jurrien Timber has been touted heavily, but it seems like the 20-time English champions are keeping their options open and have identified Ndicka as a potential alternative.
However, Manchester United could potentially face competition from Tottenham, who are also keeping tabs on Ndicka’s growth at Eintracht Frankfurt. Spurs boss Antonio Conte is keen on reinforcing his backline in the summer as Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga are set to leave while Davinson Sanchez has not been consistent enough.
Tottenham have been linked with several players as a result, including the Inter Milan trio of Alessandro Bastoni, Stefan de Vrij and Milan Skriniar. Evan Ndicka is another name on Fabio Paratici’s shortlist as he and Conte look to finalise Tottenham’s plans for the summer transfer window.
Apart from Tottenham and Manchester United, AS Monaco are also interested in Ndicka and see him as a potential replacement for Benoit Badiashile, who is being linked with a summer exit. With interest in the 22-year-old growing by the day, it will be a challenge for Eintracht Frankfurt to keep hold of Ndicka for long. However, the prospect of playing Champions League football with the Eagles could sway the defender’s decision.
