West Ham United are reportedly keen on securing the services of Dutch international Noa Lang in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Fichajes, Premier League side West Ham United are interested in securing the services of Noa Lang from Belgian giants Club Brugge.
The Dutch international came through the youth ranks at Feyenoord and Ajax Amsterdam before going on to make his senior bow for the latter in the 2018/19 campaign. He famously made history by netting a hat-trick on his league debut, becoming the first player in 60 years to do so.
He spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Brugge before making the move permanent last summer. At 22, Lang is primed to make it big and has shown glimpses of his talent in the Belgian top flight. So far, the 22-year-old Dutchman has made 79 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals and assisting 24 more.
Primarily deployed as a left-winger, Lang is capable of playing anywhere along the frontline and also as an attacking midfielder if needed. His versatility will aid him should he make the move to the London Stadium by joining West Ham United.
The Hammers appear to be a side reborn under David Moyes and have shown this season that their success from the 2020/21 campaign was no fluke. West Ham have also qualified for the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League and are preparing to face Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt later this month.
While Moyes’s men have given a good account of themselves, West Ham also have some glaring weaknesses when it comes to the playing squad. While other players have chipped in of late, it is no secret that Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen lay the foundations for their attacking prowess.
Said Benrahma has had his moments, while Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals are spectacular yet inconsistent. Nikola Vlasic also makes up the numbers in attack but cannot make a difference consistently. Securing Lang will give Moyes a genuine talent who can blossom into a world-class winger with the right guidance.
The West Ham boss has shown during his time at Everton, and recently with Jesse Lingard, that he is capable of coaxing the best out of players. Moving to London could be a win-win situation for both Lang and West Ham.
Landing the 22-year-old Dutch international will also offer the Hammers some insurance should they lose Bowen in the summer. The Englishman has been constantly linked with a move to Liverpool, and it remains to be seen if it will go through in the summer.
West Ham also face competition from AC Milan for the player’s signature. Given that Rafael Leao is the undisputed first-choice left-winger at the San Siro, one could argue that Lang will have a better opportunity to stake his claim in the first XI at West Ham.
It is in the Londoners’ best interests to go all out for Lang. While West Ham have shown enough promise, it could all come to nought unless Moyes continues to strengthen and evolve his team. Signing the 22-year-old Dutch international will give West Ham a fresh dimension in attack.
