Jurgen Klopp claimed that he expects Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah to bounce back to form soon ahead of their game against Manchester United.
Speaking to the media ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash against arch-rivals Manchester United (h/t Daily Mirror), manager Jurgen Klopp has discussed the recent slump in form that his star forward Mohamed Salah is currently going through.
Salah had been on fire in the 2021/22 campaign and is currently at the top of the goalscoring charts in the Premier League, with 20 strikes against his name. Overall, the 29-year-old has netted 28 goals and set up 11 more for his teammates from 41 games across all competitions.
However, the Egyptian international has been going through a lean spell recently. Salah has found the back of the net only once in his last 12 appearances for club and country – a penalty in the 2-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion. The Liverpool forward was well below his usual level in the FA Cup semi-finals against Manchester City over the weekend.
Despite that, Klopp insisted that he saw plenty of positives in Salah’s performance against the Cityzens on Saturday while adding that the superstar will bounce back to form imminently.

“It’s a completely normal spell Mo is going through. We’ve spoken about all the physical demands he faced in the last few months so it’s completely normal,” he said.
“I liked the game against City a lot, it was a really good football game, and it’s only a question of time when he will score as well. He was unlucky in a couple of moments, but it close enough now for a couple of times. The moment will definitely come. I am really happy with the performance he showed a few days ago.”
With Liverpool still in contention for the quadruple, they need Mohamed Salah to be firing on all cylinders between now and the end of the season. So, Klopp was quizzed if he had spoken to his forward about his recent slump, to which the German replied, “We had plenty of talks over the time we worked together, but in this specific time, there is no need for it.”
“We talk about the situation, we talk about the normal stuff about what he has to do in the game, the gameplan and how to expose the opponent but it’s completely individual to all players.”
Salah’s recent dry run in front of goal has not stopped Liverpool from carrying forward their winning momentum. The likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz have stepped up when needed, helping keep the hopes of a quadruple alive.
