Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Liverpool’s capture of Fabio Carvalho, with the Fulham youngster set to sign a five-year contract.
Liverpool are on the verge of sealing their first signing of the 2022/23 season by bringing in Fabio Carvalho, reports Fabrizio Romano. The reputed Italian journalist has confirmed the Reds’ capture of the Fulham youngster, who has completed his medical and is set to arrive at Anfield in the summer.
Carvalho has penned a five-year deal with the Merseysiders, with the club having to pay €5 million, plus €2.7 million in add-ons. Liverpool are likely to announce the transfer in May, mostly after the season comes to an end.
The Reds were interested in signing Carvalho even in the January transfer window. But a move did not materialise as the necessary paperwork could not be completed in time. The youngster has been one of the breakout stars in the Championship this term, having been involved in 14 goals in 29 league outings.
An attacking midfielder by trade, Carvalho’s contributions in the final third have been critical in helping Fulham push for promotion back to the Premier League next season. But other than his productivity, the youngster has also made an impression with his ability to beat defenders and create goalscoring opportunities in the attacking third.

Carvalho’s blooming performances had even made him a top target for a host of other big clubs including Arsenal and AC Milan. But it is Liverpool, who have come out on top, partly thanks to an excellent relationship with Fulham.
It appears Carvalho himself fancies his chances of making his breakthrough at Anfield despite facing the prospect of stiff competition from the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones and Naby Keita.
It is clear that Liverpool view the youngster as a long-term prospect, someone who can replace Thiago in the years to come. The player has already visited the AXA training complex to get a glimpse of the training facility Liverpool have to offer. He has also met with coach Jurgen Klopp.
The Reds currently have no plans to loan Carvalho back to Fulham. They are even willing to include the youngster as part of their first-team setup during the pre-season preparation.
In the meantime, though, Carvalho will look to focus on the remainder of the campaign with Fulham. With a few games still remaining until the end of the season, he will have the opportunity to further enhance his goalscoring record and end the Championship on a high note.
