Arsenal are among three Premier League clubs keeping close tabs on Torino star Gleison Bremer ahead of the 2022 summer transfer window.
According to TuttoJuve, North London giants Arsenal have joined the list of teams keeping tabs on Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer as he continues to impress for Serie A club Torino.
The 25-year-old joined the Italian side from Atletico Mineiro in 2018 and has since taken his game up several notches. Bremer has made 104 appearances for Torino, scoring 13 goals and assisting five more in that time.
The South American’s performances have aided Torino to build upon their 17th placed finish last season. They are currently 11th in the Italian top flight and could even finish in the top half. Bremer’s impact at the back has been clear, with only the top four clubs in the division conceding fewer goals than Torino in the Serie A so far.
His performances in Italy have not gone unnoticed, with several clubs keeping tabs on his progress. Arsenal, who have improved leaps and bounds under Mikel Arteta, is one such team.
The Gunners have added the likes of Gabriel and Ben White to their roster in recent windows. While both players are talented and can develop into top-class defenders, they lack the leadership and aerial prowess needed to become a colossus at the back. Adding Bremer to the squad will certainly ramp up Arsenal’s defensive prowess.
The same can be said for Tottenham, who are also in for the player. The addition of Cristian Romero has given them an excellent central defender, but the likes of Eric Dier cannot always be counted on to stay reliable. Bringing in Bremer to partner Romero will give Antonio Conte a dynamic young defensive partnership that can be a threat at both ends of the pitch.
Manchester United is another club that has gone big on centre-backs in recent times. It has, however, done little to plug the holes in their defence. While Bremer is certainly an excellent option on paper, there is little he can do to improve the Red Devils unless there is a clear game plan, not to mention a capable manager.
The 25-year-old could be available for €30million, a rather fair price for a player of his potential. With Liverpool and Manchester City also in the race, it remains to be seen if a move to England tickles Bremer’s fancy.
A move to north London would be ideal for the Brazilian if he transfers to the Premier League. Both Arsenal and Tottenham have capable managers and appear to be on the up. Bremer would certainly be an excellent addition to their young roster and a rallying point in the defence to build the team around.
