Real Madrid are reportedly closing in on the capture of Noel Lopez and Alvaro Leiva, who will join up with Raul Gonzalez’s Castilla outfit.
According to a report from Spanish publication Defensa Central, Real Madrid are inching closer to completing the signings of Spanish prospects Noel Lopez and Alvaro Leiva from Deportivo La Coruna and Algeciras CF, respectively.
Noel Lopez is a product of the Deportivo La Coruna academy. Having impressed with the club’s Under-19 outfit, the teenager made his first-team debut in the ongoing campaign. A centre-forward by trade, the teenager has featured 26 times for the senior side this term, scoring four goals in the process.
Lopez has also broken into the Spanish Under-19 national team and has six appearances for them but is yet to open his goalscoring account.
As for Alvaro Leiva, he came through the ranks at the Algeciras youth setup and has managed to carve out a place for himself in the first-team squad despite being aged just 17. Like Lopez, he too made his debut in the senior side last year and has gone on to accrue 31 appearances in which he has three goals and a solitary assist.

Leiva, a versatile forward who can operate on the flanks or as a second striker, made his debut for the Spanish Under-18 outfit last month and has been called up to the Under-19s.
The report states that both Noel Lopez and Alvaro Leiva had been attracting interest from several teams across Spain. The latter, in particular, was also on the radars of Real Madrid’s arch-rivals Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. However, Los Blancos are the best positioned to sign the pair.
Real Madrid have been showing a lot of focus on strengthening their ranks at the academy level and even the Castilla team as they look to produce stars for the future from within the club. Recently, Los Blancos agreed a deal to sign Marcos Garcia Montolio, and they have been scouting Valencia teenagers Cristhian Mosquera and Jesus Vazquez.
Now, it has emerged that they are also on the verge of signing another talented pair of Spanish prospects in Noel Lopez and Alvaro Leiva, both of whom are expected to link up with the Castilla outfit managed by club legend Raul Gonzalez. It will be interesting to see if the teenage prospects go on to make an impact at the first-team level at Real Madrid in the years to come.
