Real Madrid are prepared to offload as many as six players, including Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio, to make room for Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are preparing for a major clearout in the summer transfer window as they wish to create space in the squad for the arrivals of top targets Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
Real Madrid are planning a huge splurge this summer as Florentino Perez looks to create a team that can dominate domestic and European football for years to come. To that end, Los Blancos have identified their attacking unit as a key area that needs to be strengthened, with Mbappe and Haaland becoming the primary transfer targets ahead of the summer.
Mbappe has been on Real Madrid’s radars for ages, and the club even tried to get him last summer, only for PSG to stand firm and refuse to sell. However, the 23-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the season. And he looks all set to arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu in a Bosman deal. Indeed, the French superstar has reached an agreement with Los Blancos over a summer move.
Despite the impending arrival of Mbappe, Real Madrid also wish to add Haaland to their ranks as a potential long-term replacement for Karim Benzema. The Frenchman is going strong and is enjoying a brilliant 2021/22 campaign. But, at 34, he will soon enter the final phase of his career and will eventually need to be replaced, with Haaland emerging as the top target for Real Madrid.
While Mbappe is believed to have an agreement in place to join Los Blancos, Haaland, too, is keen on making the switch happen and has reportedly rejected a massive contract offer from Manchester City in the hope of moving to the Spanish capital club. Real Madrid will now have to make room for them in the squad, considering that the pair will command huge wages.
The Merengues are now planning to offload as many as six first-team members from their roster. The injury-prone Eden Hazard is one of the biggest names on the transfer list at Real Madrid. But given how poorly he has fared since arriving from Chelsea in 2019, it does not come as a surprise that the club would want to cut their losses on the Belgian.
Along with Hazard, fellow forward Marco Asensio could also face the axe from Real Madrid. The Spanish international has shown some signs of form this term but has failed to kick on and live up to the potential he displayed early on in his career. With the arrival of Mbappe likely to eat into his game-time, an exit makes a lot of sense.
Apart from these two, fringe centre-forwards Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz are also set to be shown the doors by Real Madrid to make room for Haaland’s arrival. Furthermore, forgotten midfielder Dani Ceballos, who is a target for former club Real Betis, and defender Jesus Vallejo will also be allowed to leave.
