Antonio Conte has offered his thoughts on his time at Tottenham so far, amid speculation over his future.
Tottenham Hotspur have been under the cosh in recent weeks. After a disappointing January transfer window, the London outfit have lost a host of talented players, while failing to land their top targets. Their poor performance in the market even drew criticism from their own manager Antonio Conte.
To rub further salt into the wounds, Conte has now been linked with a potential exit from Spurs in the summer, along with sporting director Fabio Paratici, who has emerged as a target for Paris Saint-Germain as a potential replacement for Leonardo.
In a recent interaction with the media, Antonio Conte opened up on his brief spell at Tottenham. While the Italian did not dismiss the possibility of a potential exit in the summer, he reiterated his desire to honour his contract, which doesn’t expire until the end of next season.
“Since my arrival at Tottenham, we have improved a lot in many aspects,” Conte reflected, as quoted by Sky Sports. “I knew that and then I was depressed, I didn’t want to see up and down and up and down [performances], I wanted to see a stable team.”

Tottenham have played well under the Italian, barring a rather inconsistent run over the past four weeks that saw them getting eliminated from the FA Cup and suffer defeats to Wolves and Burnley in the league. Conte was quick to react to the rough patch, questioning the mentality of his players in one of his interviews.
“We have started to do this with these players because we are working very well and in my opinion we are improving a lot,” Conte added, citing the importance of ambition in the team. “For sure, you need in the future to have other important steps and ambition with facts, not only with words, to become stronger.”
Conte went on to confirm his commitment towards Tottenham and helping the team restore its past glory: “I am committed to this club for another year, and the club wanted this type of situation. I accepted because it was good to know each other. After four months at the club, I think the club understood my way to work, I understood the club.
“In three months, at the end of the season, we will continue to improve this knowledge of each other and then to find the best solution for both. I am enjoying working for this club. I like to fight for something important for this club.”
Conte’s words of reassurance could serve as a massive boost for chairman Daniel Levy, who could be set for a difficult summer ahead as the likes of PSG and Manchester United look to poach Conte from north London next season.
