Seko Fofana is reportedly emerging between a possible transfer battle involving Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United, with the midfielder high in demand.
According to Le10Sport, Seko Fofana is linked with multiple clubs, including Newcastle United. And Paris Saint-Germain have now entered the chase for the Ivorian midfielder. This summer, the 26-year-old could leave Ligue 1 outfit Lens if any serious offers arrive from big clubs.
Seko Fofana has put in some impressive performances for Lens this season, and naturally, there is significant interest in the midfielder. Newcastle United are interested in the Ivory Coast star, although they face thorough competition from many other European giants heading into the summer window.
The Magpies showed glimpses of their newfound financial muscle in the January transfer window, as they brought in several key players and spent over £90 million during the month. The whole idea was to sign players who could help them get out of the relegation zone and remain in the Premier League next season.
If they survive, Newcastle United are expected to have a smashing summer window, as they eye many key players in various positions. One of the key departments is central midfield, and Seko Fofana’s name is linked with Newcastle United.
The Premier League bigwigs would certainly like the Ivorian to join them, although they might face intense competition from Real Madrid, who have also shown an interest, and now Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 giants want the Ivorian from Lens, and they might be prepared to pay a reasonable fee to acquire him in the summer.
Like Newcastle, PSG are also planning major changes in the summer. The central midfield area remains at the forefront of their plans, with many players already linked with a move. The Parisians were recently linked with N’Golo Kante, while others like Paul Pogba are also regular features among rumours.
PSG are prepared to offer Pogba a lucrative deal if he becomes a free agent in the summer. However, irrespective of the Manchester United midfielder’s arrival, the Ligue 1 giants remain interested in Fofana, as he could play a pivotal role in their team.
Fofana has a contract until 2024, allowing Lens to demand a reasonable fee in the summer. PSG and Newcastle are more than capable of meeting the Ligue 1 outfit’s financial demands of any kind, let alone for the 26-year-old, who may move out of his current club to further his career at a bigger side.
