Flamengo have reportedly made an offer of €8 million to try and secure the signing of Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira on a permanent basis.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Manchester United have received an offer of €8 million from Brazilian giants Flamengo for the permanent transfer of midfielder Andreas Pereira.
The 26-year-old has been a Manchester United player for ten years, having signed from the PSV Eindhoven youth academy in 2012. He made his senior debut for the Red Devils in 2014 at the age of 18 years but never managed to establish himself as a regular. To date, Pereira has featured just 75 times for the Mancunian outfit, scoring four goals and registering five assists.
Pereira has spent a vast amount of time away on loan, having had spells with Granada, Valencia and Lazio, while he joined Flamengo in the summer last year. Since returning to Brazil, the midfielder has made a solid impression, contributing five goals and an assist from 24 matches.
Owing to his impactful displays for the club, Flamengo are interested in making his transfer permanent. And as per the update from Rudy Galetti, they have made an offer of €8 million to secure his services from Manchester United on a full-time basis.

Pereira clearly does not have a long-term future at Manchester United. The Brazilian international last featured for the Red Devils in August 2020. With his current contract with the club set to expire in eighteen months, it makes sense for the 20-time English champions to cash in on him right now instead of facing the prospect of losing him for a lower fee in the summer transfer window.
Galetti adds that representatives from Flamengo and Manchester United are set to meet in the coming days to finalise the transfer. Pereira will become the first of many fringe players to leave Old Trafford, with more exits likely to follow in the summer.
Juan Mata is out of contract at the end of the season and is expected to move on, while Jesse Lingard will also be a free agent. The England international is attracting interest from Newcastle United, Tottenham and West Ham United. Phil Jones is another player who could be on his way out come summer. For now, Pereira’s transfer to Flamengo looks all set to be made permanent.
