Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly locked in negotiations over the potential transfer of Tanguy Ndombele.
A recent report from Daily Telegraph has shed some light on the future of Tanguy Ndombele. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte, with the club now involved in talks with Paris Saint-Germain surrounding a potential exit in the January transfer window.
Ndombele is rated highly by the PSG camp, who have already offered Leandro Paredes in a straight swap deal. While Spurs have been quick to knock back the proposal, both sides could soon reach an agreement, especially with Conte keen on offloading Ndombele in an attempt to add a few new players to the team.
Tottenham are believed to be open to a swap deal involving the Frenchman. However, they hold no interest in Paredes and are gunning for other PSG stars. It appears Conte is ideally looking for someone who can compete with Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emille Hojbjerg during the second half of the campaign.
One would suggest PSG’s very own Georginio Wijnaldum might prove to be an excellent option given his vast experience in Premier League. However, the Dutchman is primed to join Arsenal as he looks to put an end to his miserable spell at PSG.
Wijnaldum’s potential move at the Emirates could force Tottenham to explore other options in the market. The Lilywhties were recently linked with a move for James Ward-Prowse, among other experienced Premier League stars.
As for Ndombele, he clearly has no future at Tottenham, having featured in a total of 80 minutes of league football under Conte. The Spurs hierarchy has grown frustrated with his lack of consistency and work ethic. PSG, though, are admirers of Ndombele’s talents, especially considering how successful the Frenchman was during his time at Lyon.
From a sporting perspective, the 25-year-old is likely being brought in as a direct replacement for Wijnaldum, should the Dutchman truly depart Parc des Princes in January. The club had been linked with a Bosman move for Paul Pogba, but in Ndombele, coach Mauricio Pochettino could find himself an interesting alternative.
It remains to be seen whether the Frenchman can recover his old self after returning to his homeland in the winter transfer window. But a move away from North London could be a step in the right direction as he looks to revive his career after a disappointing spell in the Premier League with Tottenham.
