Real Madrid have reportedly identified Feyenoord defender Marcos Senesi as a potential target to bolster their centre-back department.
According to a report from El Nacional, Real Madrid have set their sights on a move for Feyenoord’s Argentine centre-half Marcos Senesi as they look to improve their defensive contingent.
A product of San Lorenzo de Almagro in Argentina, Senesi went on to make close to 70 senior appearances for his boyhood club before making his way to Europe in the summer of 2019 when he signed for Feyenoord. In the two-and-a-half years that he has been in the Netherlands, the 24-year-old has become a key member of the side, featuring 94 times and registering eight goals and seven assists.
Senesi has been an ever-present figure in the side for the Dutch outfit this term and has even captained the team on a few occasions. His development since landing in Europe has caught the eye of some top clubs, with the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United interested in him.
Now, Real Madrid have also entered the fray for his signing and could launch a move for him either in January or at the end of the season as they look to bolster their defensive ranks. The Merengues brought in David Alaba in the summer, and the Austrian has forged a solid defensive partnership alongside Eder Militao.
However, there is a distinct lack of quality when it comes to cover in the centre-back department beyond the pair. Indeed, Nacho Fernandez is not getting any younger, while Jesus Vallejo is not favoured by manager Carlo Ancelotti and could be allowed to leave soon. As a result, Los Blancos are lining up reinforcements at the heart of the defence.
A move for Antonio Rudiger is very much on the cards for the summer, but Florentino Perez might look to make an addition immediately in January to ensure that his team’s title challenge does not get derailed. To that end, the Spanish capital club have identified Senesi as a potential target.
The report states that an offer of around €20 million could be enough to convince Feyenoord to part ways with the towering defender. Whether Real Madrid are willing to stump up that sum in the ongoing transfer window remains to be seen.
