The third round of I-League kicks off today as the two promoted sides take on each other as Sporting Club de Goa get ready to face the Shillong Lajong challenge at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao. An interesting I-league match is at hand as both the clubs have enjoyed a decent start to the season and none of them have tasted defeat so far.
Sporting Club is placed at a comfortable eighth position at the moment, garnering two draws from the opening two games. Sporting coach Ekendra Singh was left regretting lack of concentration at the back, as he swallowed the bitter pill of watching his side give away a healthy two goal lead in the last fifteen minutes, under the lights at Balewadi Sports Complex against Pune FC in the last round. Ogbaai??i??s penalty and Freimanai??i??s clever rebound had given Ekendraai??i??s side a double advantage earlier over the hosts. Evidently, the problem for ai???flaming oranjeai??i?? lies at the back as the Goans have let in four goals, scoring as many upfront. The attack looks promising but the defenders need to pull their socks up in order to gain all three points at home.
Sporting Club de Goa expected line up: Milagrio(GK), Boboi, Samananda, Keita, Jovel, Freiman, Anthony, Victorino, Ogba, Moga, Mackroy.
Shillong Lajong is positioned at fourth in the table after an impressive and gritty performance in Imphal last time around. Pradhym Reddyai??i??s side managed to hold on to one goal slender lead, keeping all the late second half HAL attacks at bay. The Reds from the north-east will be on high confidence after bagging their first home win as they get ready to lock horns with SC Goa. New signing Henry Gangte scored the maiden goal amid a man of the match performance by another new recruit, John Menyongar.
The side from Meghalaya has certainly announced themselves big time as the mid field is connecting well with the strikers and the defense looks in shape, having not even conceded a single goal throughout. Coach Reddy, on the other hand has called for more improvement as he would hope that his side continues the good run of form as it would be a tough encounter, keeping in mind that Goans are still winless and would be leaving no stone unturned to change that fact at home.
Shillong Lajong expectedAi??line up: Soram (GK), Passah , Ralte , Subhash , Lallchhuanmawia , Lalramluaha , Lallimthara , Haokip , Menyongar, Lyngdoh

The Pilots currently lie at the thirteenth spot in the league table, as they havenai??i??t managed to garner even a single point from their opening two matches. The Airmen tasted defeat at home at the hands of local rivals Mumbai FC in their first home match at Balewadi Sports complex in Pune. More recently the Santosh Kashyap mentored side was clinically undone by the Durand cup champions Churchill Brothers in Goa, to leave the Mumbai side winless till now.
The side prepares for a face-off against the defending champions, Salgaocar in Pune. Air India has looked bland this season, which was predicted by many pundits in the beginning of the season. Even though striker Ezeh Henry does provide a spark up front, the defense leaks too many goals for a victory. Former JCT custodian Pawan Kumar would be our man to watch out for as Santosh Kashyapai??i??s men try to bag their first point of the season.
Air India expected line-up: Omi, Henry, Mandeep, Manjit, Soccor, Napolean Singh, Tamba, Manjit, Uttam, Pawan Kumar (GK), Thomte
On the other hand, Salgaocar SC completed the rout of 10-men Pailan Arrows at home with striker Chidi Edeh scoring a brace to help Goan side to clinch their first three points of the season. Currently, Karim Bencharifa led side is stationed at fifth in the table with an opening day loss and a victory against their name.
This would be cited as a great opportunity by the Moroccan to jump up the table and nothing less than grabbing all three points would be a setback, as Air India are already tippedAi?? for survival battle this season.Ai?? Francis Fernandes had a peach of a game last time around and would be our man to watch out for in the yellow shirt at Balewadi.

Derrick Pereiraai??i??s side showed a lot of grit as they staged a stunning comeback in front of their home fans to clinch a home point. The Pune side lies at tenth in the table after drawing their first two encounters. As usual, Pune FC has started the campaign the same way it had started it a year ago.Ai?? The Red Lizards kept it late as India striker Jeje and defender Chika Wali cancelled out two goal advantage against above average SC Goa side.
The trio of Arata, Jeje and Douhou has combined well upfront, but can’t make all the chances count as many chances are muffed in front of the goal. Lester Fernandes and Subash have been used quite intelligently by Derrick in the last game, almost bailing the Pune side out with all three points. With another home game, the Red Lizards would be planning to garner their maiden three points of the season as they face the Chirag United Kerala challenge.
Pune FC expected line up: Shahinlal(GK), Tabia, Gurjinder, Venkatesh , Baldeep, Chika, Costa, Lester, Arata, Jeje, Douhou.
Chirag United Kerala is slotted at a decent sixth in the table after registering a win and a loss in their opening two matches. Pakir Aliai??i??s side showcased good quality football in their last round match against McDowells Mohun Bagan, but were undone by a Jose Barreto late goal, which left Pakir Ali lamenting the lack of defense at the back. Earlier, Australian striker Michel Matriccani had restored parity for the side from Kochi. Pakir Aliai??i??s side now gets ready to take on Pune FC in their own backyard, hoping to bring their points tally on track.
Chirag United Kerala expected line up: Sharath(GK), Gurjinder, Charles, Ajayan K., Jagdeep, Shabbash , Isaaq, Assif K, Michael, Vignesh, Vineeth

The men in purple take on the might of the current Durand Cup champions Churchill Brothers, in a Durand Cup final re-matchAi??at Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Tuesday. Prayag United are positioned at ninth in the table, securing two draws from the games in first two rounds. The Prayag United faithful know that their team has been performing well, which was quite evident in both Fed Cup and Durand Cup as well. The team is surely gelling well, but Sanjay Senai??i??s side is paying a heavy price for lack of concentration at the back. In the last game, which was a Kolkata derby with Kingfisher East Bengal, Prayag United spilled a one goal cushion after playing well for most of the match.
Sanjay Sen would be hoping to improve on this front as they welcome the dangerous and in form Churchill Brothers at YBK. A similar lineup is expected for the match with Lalkamal pulling the strings in the mid field and Yakubu and either Vincent or Josimar, trying to make the most of it upfront.Ai?? Bello Rasaq has been rock solid in the defense along with Arnab.
Prayag United expected line up: Abhijit(GK), Chintan Chandrasekhar, Bello, Arnab, Deepak, Denson, Lalkamal , Snehasish, Tulunga, Vincent , Yakubu.
Churchill Brothers has been pretty professional in their two victories so far in the League. Starting off with a historic victory against East Bengal in Kolkata, Churchill Brothers again made a long trip to lock horns against Prayag United this time around. In the last round, the impressive Goans defeated an insipid Air India by a margin of two goals. Gabonese striker, Henri has adapted well it seems as he slotted in a shrewd brace on either side of the lemon break to clinch back-to-back victories for his side.
ND Opara has also manged to fill in the huge void left by Odafa, and they both seem to make the most of the Steven Dias deliveries from the flanks. Goalkeeper Felix Dai??i??souza would be hoping for another clean sheet as the Goan Reds look to cement their position at the summit.
Churchill Brothers expected line up: Felix Dai??i??sousa(GK), Denzil, Gourmangi, Mathew, Raju, Lenney, Dias, Ravanan, Bineesh Balan, ND Opara, Henry.

This match is definitely among the ties to watch out for in this round, with two former champions taking on each other in a top of the table clash at PJN, Goa. Dempo Sporting Club is slotted at the summit of the table, hitting the opponent net five times without conceding a single goal in their opening two ties. Armando Colacoai??i??s men thrashed Mumbai FC at the same ground in the last round by four goals. Ranti Martins has been in red hot form scoring a brace in the second half, taking his tally to three for the season. The whole team has been performing well and is looking very positive before this crucial tie as they welcome Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan at home. Clifford Miranda, Anthony and Climax have been fueling the midfield engine quite well and they have been maneuvering the ball cleverly on the flanks. The Goan Blues need to bring their ai???Aai??i?? game on the pitch on Wednesday as they face the challenge of another in-form team.
Dempo Expected line up: Subasish(GK), Debabrata, Mahesh Gawli, Antao, Sameer, Carvalho, Climax, Anthony, Miranda, Joachim Abranches, Martins.
The Mariners have also started the season on a high as they are currently lying in the second spot, owing to an inferior goal difference to their opponents on Wednesday. Subrata Bhattacharya would miss the services of high profile recruit Odafa, who has been on target in the both the matches, scoring a hattrick in the first one, and netting the opener in the last match against an impressive Chirag Kerala side. Mohun Bagan would also be without Brazilian old horse Jose Barreto scored a late goal to clinch the second back to back win for the Green-&-Maroon army. Coach Prasanta Banerjee would be hoping to deploy Ashim Biswas alongside Sunil Chettri upfront, and bringing in Manish Maithani to support Lima in the middle, changing the formation to a normal 4-4-2. The key battles on the field would be between Anwar-Kinshuk and Ranti-Abranches. On other end of the pitch, the result of the match would highly depend on how the pair of Gawli and Antao contain Sunil Chettri and Biswas. Jewel Raja has also impressed the purists, especially after the last match, and would be hoping to echo the same in Goa.
Mohun Bagan expected line up: Sangram Mukherjee(GK), Dhanarajan, Kinshuk, Anwar, Nabi, Lima, Jewel, Murli J, Manish Maithani, Ashim Biswas, Sunil.

Sukhwinder Singhai??i??s young brigade, Pailan Arrows, havenai??i??t started the season as expected. The team has conceded seven goals in their opening two matches, and is languishing at the bottom of the table with no points. Pailan Arrows now take on HAL from Bangalore, another team which has struggled to find its feet in the league. The Arrows were not blessed with easy games upfront, with Mohun Bagan slotting 3 and then defending champions Salgaocar humbling the new Kolkata side by four goals. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi would be eyeing this match against fellow strugglers HAL to bring the derailed season on track and would be hoping to clinch their first victory. The young lads did remarkably well, to avoid the drop last season and need to showcase the same agility and quickness which was their forte. Former JCT striker Ajay Singh upfront, with CS Sabeeth, have been touted as future Indian stares and they need to prove their worth in the middle. The team would be missing the services of defender Abhinabo Bag as he was red carded in the last match.
Pailan Arrows expected line up: Naveen (GK), Amarwant, Souvik, Gurtej Sr, Lalrozama, Bijayandra, Milan, Gurtej (Jr), Jibon, CS.Sabeeth, Ajay Singh.
Bangalore side HAL is positioned at twelfth in the league table, having won none of the games so far. Superior goal difference keeps them away from the rock bottom as they travel to Kolkata to take on Pailan Arrows in a bottom of the table clash. Interestingly, HAL have looked good on the pitch and have put in gritty performances so far. It is just that the side hasn’t been able to take the opportunities which come their way, as they are less. Coach Thyagrajai??i??s side lack teeth in their attack, but are well organized in their defense and the mid field battle. Just like Pailan Arrows, HAL would be hoping to kick start their season with a win against a not so fancied side.
HAL expected line up: Promod P (GK), Chandandeep, Adeola , Sudesh, Kenneth, Goutam, Kartikeyan, James, Ajit, Hamza, Deepak.

The side from Maharashtra is positioned at eighth in the table after two rounds of matches. Mumbai FC welcome Kolkata giants at Balewadi Sports complex as Khalid Jamilai??i??s side present their challenge. Their home ground, Cooperage Stadium, is not able to host matches due to renovation work, hence Mumbai FC matches are played out in Pune. Mumbai FC lost to Dempo in the last round, as the Goans slotted four past a hapless looking defense. The side started their campaign in style as they got the better of Air India on day one, this time slotting four past their opponents. Ebi Sukore would be our man to watch out for as he has looked more likely to score or create. Kuttimani will also look to showcase the same influential performance, as the Bangalore boy looks to make his mark.
Mumbai FC expected line up: Ishant(GK), Dhanachandra, Keegan, Choima, Darren, Nicholas, Lobo, Noel, Kuttimani, Friday, Sukore.
Trevor Morganai??i??s lads have made an uncertain start to the season, currently being slotted at eleventh in the league table. After losing the opening match at home in first round against Churchill Brothers, East Bengal were again found chasing the game against Prayag united, as the Red-&-Gold brigade relied on a late Baljit Sahni goal to open their tally of the season. Last yearai??i??s runnerai??i??s up havenai??i??t really looked threatening from the mid field as the void left by the influential Mehtab Hussain has been evident in both the matches. New recruit has been shabby upfront and hasnai??i??t really synched up with the Aussie Ozbey upfront, who has been guilty of hot and cold performance in both the ties. Penn Orji is expected to start at Balewadi Sports Complex as the Super Cup holders look to end an unusual drought. Trevor Morgan mentored side face the challenge of a very unpredictable Mumbai FC side.
East Bengal expected line up: Gurpreet Singh Sandhu(GK), Naoba, Okpara , Nirmal, Robert, Vasum, Sanju, Khabra, Gow, Penn, Tolgey.
