Tottenham Hotspur and PSG are reportedly ready to rival Manchester United in the race to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Tottenham Hotspur have tabled an offer to sign Franck Kessie. It appears the north London giants are hoping to snap up the AC Milan midfielder and are prepared to offer around €10 million per season to him.
Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are the other two clubs involved in the race to sign Kessie, whose contract expires at the end of the season. The player does not appear to have any intention of prolonging his stay at San Siro, as the Serie A giants are unwilling to meet his wage demands.
Formerly of Atalanta, Kessie has been a revelation at AC Milan, especially under the leadership of Stefano Pioli. He has featured in over 200 competitive matches for the club, playing a vital role in their recent renaissance.
In recent years, the Ivorian has also emerged as a workhorse who can influence the game both offensively and defensively. Kessie notably scored 13 goals in the league last season, while he has embraced a slightly more defensive role in the new campaign.

Kessie’s work ethic, versatility and aggression have now made him a top target for Tottenham. The north Londoners are in the market for a new midfielder in January, which suggests they are likely to offload Tanguy Ndombele. The Frenchman has already fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte, who is looking for a more competent option in the middle of the park.
The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for Bologna’s midfield talent Mattias Svanberg. But in Franck Kessie, Tottenham could land themselves one of the most well-established midfielders in Italy who has the pedigree of performing at the highest level of football.
However, Tottenham still have a long way to go before they can reach an agreement to sign Kessie in the near future. Not to mention, they are still expected to face competition from league rivals Manchester United, who are also in the market for a new midfielder.
The Red Devils are keen on finding an upgrade over the current midfield duo of Scott McTominay and Fred, as interim coach Ralf Rangnick looks to restore the club’s lost glory. He is already trying to reunite with Amadou Haidara of RB Leipzig, but one would imagine the German tactician could prefer a move for Kessie, who offers more experience and versatility.
Manchester United must act swiftly if they are to get their hands on the AC Milan superstar, who is also a target for two of the Spanish giants in FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. However, with PSG and Tottenham ready to offer a €10 million-a-year deal to Kessie, Manchester United will also need to worry about those two clubs to land Kessie.
