Transfer News: Real Madrid sign Javier Villar

Real Madrid have completed the signing of 18-year-old midfield prodigy Javier Villar from Elche, with the youngster set to link up with the Juvenil A side.

According to Spanish publication AS, Real Madrid have signed former Barcelona trainee Javier Villar from Elche, with the teenage prospect set to link up with the club’s Juvenil A outfit.

Villar, 18, is the younger brother of AS Roma midfielder Gonzalo Villar. The teenage midfielder started out at the academy of Real Murcia and spent some time training at Barcelona’s La Masia youth setup before making his way to Elche in 2019.

While Villar never featured for Elche’s first-team, the youngster was held in the highest of regards within the club due to his performances at various age-group levels, especially in the 2020/21 season. And, his exploits seemed to have attracted Real Madrid this summer, with the Los Blancos taking major steps to bolster their youth ranks this summer.

Indeed, Real Madrid have recently signed a number of young talents to strengthen their youth department, with Victor Munoz Villanueva being one among those who have arrived this summer, along with Rodrigo Gomez-Elegido and Piri. The trio has now been joined by the immensely talented Villar at the Merengues Juvenil A outfit, i.e., the club’s Under-19 setup.

The report states that Villar has penned a four-year deal with the Spanish capital club, in the process, signing his first professional contract. While the 18-year-old will be linking with Hernan Perez’s Juvenil A side, Los Blancos have also brought in players for lower age groups as well, with Mario Rivas arriving recently to join the Cadete B side following the signings of Jose Arevalo, Dani Martin and Ferran Seco.

Ruben Montero is another youngster that has been signed by the Merengues this term while 12-year-old prodigy Bryan Bugarin also seems to be on his way to La Fabrica, with Real Madrid set to beat arch-rivals Barcelona to his signing.

While the strengthening of the youth ranks seems to be happening in full flow, Real Madrid are yet to make any major headways with regard to their recruitment at the first-team level. David Alaba was signed on a free transfer after his contract expired with Bayern Munich but things have gone quiet after that as new manager Carlo Ancelotti assesses his squad and finalises upon his transfer targets.
