Manchester United & Tottenham Hotspur are among clubs keeping a close eye on Lazio’s attacking ace Vedat Muriqi this summer.
According to Calciomercato, as relayed by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Vedat Muriqi has emerged as a potential target for the Premier League clubs this summer. The Lazio striker is facing an uncertain future at the club after failing to live up to the expectations, with the Serie A giants ready to potentially cash in on him after the end of the season.
It has put clubs like Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley on red alert, as they believe Muriqi’s robust style of play could ideally tune in with the physically astute nature of the Premier League. He is likely to be available for a cut-price as well, with Lazio keen on offloading the star in the summer.
Muriqi initially joined Lazio last summer, for a hefty fee of almost €20 million. He was brought in to provide cover for star man Ciro Immobile but has struggled to settle into life in Serie A. In fact, the Kosovan forward has made only two starts while netting just one goal in a total of 17 appearances in the league.
Although Muriqi’s poor numbers in Serie A is not the best indicators of his quality, he could indeed be an interesting option in the Premier League.

Especially for Manchester United, the 26-year-old could emerge as a potential replacement for the ageing Edinson Cavani, whose expiring contract at Old Trafford is unlikely to be extended beyond this summer.
Jose Mourinho, too, is an admirer of a robust centre forward, who can dominate the physical and aerial duels. It goes hand in hand with his counter-attacking policy that heavily relies on crosses into the box – making him not only a stylistic fit at the club but also an able alternative for Harry Kane, whose future in north London remains uncertain, having recently been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the summer.
Both these clubs, therefore, can utilise Muriqi as a target man, although their pursuit in the Lazio striker could heavily rely on the club’s valuation on the player.
Tottenham, for one, certainly cannot afford to overspend on a second choice forward, even though they will release a host of on-loan players including Carlos Vinicius and Gareth Bale.
