Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly have to pay €30 million to acquire the services of Gareth Bale from Real Madrid in the summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid will demand €30 million for Gareth Bale from potential buyers at the end of the season, with Tottenham leading the race for the Welshman.
Gareth Bale has been in sublime form on loan for Spurs in recent weeks. The Welshman has 8 goals and 3 assists in 21 games to his name. Jose Mourinho has been impressed by his performances in the last few games and has contemplated on converting the loan deal into a permanent one in the upcoming transfer window.
Mourinho is also said to be interested in signing Eder Militao, another Real Madrid player who is currently out of Zinedine Zidane’s plans. The ex-Real Madrid manager would want to strike a bargain deal for the two players who are considered as surplus by the Spanish giants.
Real Madrid are suffering from an economic recession due to the pandemic and their current financial situation for the summer transfer window does not look to be great. Hence, for the Spanish club, selling players will be key in acquiring the funds required to succeed in pursuing their transfer targets in the upcoming window.
Zidane has been vocal about the fact that he does not see Bale returning to the club, even if the Welshman scores 30 goals for Tottenham on his loan spell. But this situation could change, if Zidane is sacked by Florentino Perez at the end of the season for not achieving his targets.
However, Real Madrid have set their sights on bringing Kylian Mbappe to the Spanish capital and they have been quoted a fee in the region of €135 million by Paris Saint-Germain. In order to finance the deal, they hope to raise the funds by selling players like Raphael Varane, Eder Militao and Bale. Los Blancos have currently set an asking price of €30 million for the Welsh attacker.
It remains to be seen if Spurs agree to pay €30 million for the 31-year-old Welshman, as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his squad in the summer transfer window.
