Transfer News: Manchester United to seal €4 million Willy Kambwala deal

Manchester United are reportedly set to complete the signing of Willy Kambwala from Ligue 2 side FC Sochaux in a deal set to be worth upto €4 million.

RMC Sport journalist Loic Tanzi has claimed that Willy Kambwala is set to become the latest recruit to Manchester United’s youth setup. The Red Devils have agreed a deal worth upto €4 million including bonuses and add-ons with Ligue 2 outfit FC Sochaux for the young defender.

Kambwala is set to sign a four-year deal with Manchester United, who finally reached an agreement with Sochaux after having previous bids rejected by the Ligue 2 side. The French outfit, though, will retain a sell-on fee percentage clause on the central defender.

Willy Kambwala is a highly-rated 16-year-old defender who is incredibly comfortable on the ball and has a solid defensive base. The French youngster is lauded for his ability to pre-empt what the opposition is going to do, leading to a lot of interceptions. Aggressive yet elegant in his approach, Kambwala is your ideal modern-day defender.

Manchester United have been amping up their youth recruitment over the recent years trying to re-establish a proper supply chain for the first-team setup their their youth academy like in the Sir Alex Ferguson days. This has already yielded results, with talented imports like Hannibal Mejbri, Matej Kovar and more already tipped to be inducted into the first-team setup in the coming years.

Apart from the imports, the likes of Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong, James Garner and Brandon Williams have also graduated to become a part of the first-team setup before Chong and Garner were loaned out for the season.

Manchester United have recently completed the capture of Alvaro Fernandes, Marc Jurado, Isak Hansen-Aaroen, Alejandro Garnacho, Charlie McNeill and Joe Hugill already this season. However, Kambala will fill in the void that Teden Mengi has created. The Manchester United academy ace has now become a part of the first-team bubble and has been training with the senior side.

Willy Kambwala is regarded as a generational talent at Sochaux and it will be interesting to see how much he is able to develop once he completes his move to Manchester United.
