Yasser Larouci is a doubt for Liverpool, while Joe Hardy and Liam Millar are in line to make their senior debuts when they take on Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup.
Liverpool will be taking on lower league side Shrewsbury Town at Anfield in their FA Cup fourth round replay on Tuesday night. There has been a bit of a controversy leading up to the game, with Jurgen Klopp going on the winter break with the senior team, meaning the Premier League giants will be fielding their reserves against the Shrews.
Liverpool’s Under-23 manager Neil Critchley will be taking over the reins on Tuesday night and the manager revealed that left-back Yasser Larouci is a doubt for the FA Cup clash after coming off injured last week. Speaking of the in his pre-match presser, Critchley said, “Yasser obviously came off last week.”

“We have today’s training session and tomorrow, so we’ll have a meeting before training today to find out the latest with Yasser. That was unfortunate. Hopefully he makes it. If he doesn’t, that’ll provide opportunity for one or two others – we’re quite well blessed in that area this season. Other than Yasser, that’s it.”
There will be no senior Liverpool player involved against Shrewsbury, meaning Caoimhin Kelleher is a shoo-in in goal for the Reds on Tuesday night. He will be protected by a backline comprising of Ki-Jana Hoever and Sepp van den Berg as the centre-backs. Neco Williams is a certainty at right-back and if Larouci does not make it, Adam Lewis is likely to start at left-back.
There is some degree of experience in the middle of the park for Liverpool with Pedro Chirivella, who will be slotting in as the deepest of the three midfielders. Leighton Clarkson could be set for his full debut for the Reds’ senior team, while Curtis Jones, who has scored in Liverpool’s last two FA Cup games, is a certainty for the third slot and is likely to captain the side as well.
Summer signing Harvey Elliott, regarded as one of the brightest young talents in the country, ought to slot in on the right flank for Liverpool, while Liam Millar, who was recalled from his loan spell at Kilmarnock recently, is likely to get his senior debut on the opposite wing against Shrewsbury.
Leading the line for Liverpool on Tuesday should be new arrival Joe Hardy, who signed from Brentford last month and has already found the back of the net on three occasions in five matches for the reserves.
