Transfer News: Manchester United pull plug on Paulo Dybala Romelu Lukaku swap

Manchester United have reportedly pulled the plug on a swap deal with Juventus for Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku over wage differences.

The Telegraph have run an exclusive report stating that Manchester United have pulled the plug on a swap deal for Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku. The Red Devils are reportedly unwilling to match the exorbitant wage demands presented by Paulo Dybala’s camp and have decided to not go forward with the transfer.

There were reports that Dybala’s wage demands combined with the agent commission that was asked was exorbitant and Manchester United were not interested in paying over the odds wages to another player whose first preference was not Manchester United.

The Paulo Dybala, Romelu Lukaku swap seems to be off as it stands, with various reports claiming that Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli will now fight to sign Lukaku on a permanent transfer involving straight cash. There are conflicting reports that state that Dybala’s camp has not written the transfer off and are still hopeful of striking an agreement with Manchester United.

Romelu Lukaku has seen his starting status removed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the striker now behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order. With Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial also credible options upfront and Solskjaer only going for a sole forward in a 4-2-3-1 setup, the Belgian’s chances looked to be limited going into the 2019-20 campaign.

Paulo Dybala is in a similar predicament. Juventus are looking to move a couple of forwards off their books, with Dybala not in Sarri’s plans in what is a star-studded Juventus squad right now. The Argentine was ready to fight for his place at the club but according to reports, was advised to take the Manchester United offer, especially with Sarri looking to bring in a striker in the form of Lukaku.

It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku. Juventus have spent too much to be able to afford another huge cash offer and their pursuit of Lukaku is likely to hinge on Dybala’s approval to the move. Manchester United on the other hand, seem to be finally learning from their mistakes with Angel Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez.
