Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms with French centre-forward Wissam Ben Yedder who is keen on an exit from Sevilla.
According to a report from Spanish publication La Colina de Nervion, Premier League heavyweights Manchester United have reached an agreement with Sevilla and France striker Wissam Ben Yedder over a summer transfer.
Ben Yedder, 28, earned his name as a potent marksman during his time with French outfit Toulouse, before he made the jump to Spain in 2016 joining Sevilla. In his three years with the La Liga club, the striker has made 138 appearances, netting 70 goals and setting up 22 more.
The 2018-19 campaign was Ben Yedder’s most prolific till date, as he finished with an exceptional return of 30 goals and 11 assists from 54 matches across all competitions for Sevilla. However, following a highly impressive campaign, the 28-year-old has expressed a desire to leave the club as he seeks a step up in his career.
In a recent interview, Ben Yedder said (h/t Football Espana), “I dream of playing at the highest level, in the biggest clubs in the world and being next to world class players. I want to see how far I can go and it is the right time (to leave), as they say.”
“I cannot be disrespectful to the club, whatever the final decision, I’ll be fine, I’m not worried about my future. I will take stock after the international fixtures, but it will also be Sevilla who decide.”
And as per the latest report from La Colina de Nervion, Ben Yedder has agreed personal terms with Manchester United ahead of a possible summer switch to England. The Red Devils are on the lookout for a new centre-forward amid speculations surrounding the future of Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian international has been heavily linked with a summer transfer to Serie A bigwigs Inter Milan, having slipped behind Marcus Rashford in the pecking order at Manchester United since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over the reins from Jose Mourinho towards the end of last year.
And Manchester United have identified Ben Yedder as a potential replacement for Lukaku, should he end up leaving for Inter. The report adds that even if the former Everton star stays put, the Red Devils are planning to push ahead with their interest in the four-time capped French international.
Ben Yedder is contracted with Sevilla till the summer of 2021 and has a release clause that stands at €40 million. The La Liga club do not want to lose Ben Yedder and sporting director Monchi is hoping to convince the striker against a summer transfer.
The €40 million price tag for a player in his prime and years of experience at the top level would be a bargain in the current state of the transfer market. And with the report claiming that Manchester United have already agreed terms with Ben Yedder, the transfer could very well go through in the coming weeks.
