Transfer News: Liverpool ready to rival Arsenal in the pursuit of Thorgan Hazard

Premier League giants Liverpool are set to battle it out with rivals Arsenal in the pursuit of Thorgan Hazard, who could cost around £35 million.

According to The Sun, Premier League outfits Arsenal and Liverpool are ready to make a move for Borussia Monchengladbach star Thorgan Hazard as they look to bulk up their attacking options in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Hazard has been closely linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund throughout the course of the campaign. But, it is believed that both the English clubs are ready to pounce, should the Black and Yellows miss out on the £35 million-rated Belgian forward, who has been one of the most consistent performers in the Bundesliga this season.

Liverpool, in particular, will be keen to add more depth to their attacking department in the summer as they aim to make yet another push for the title next season.

The Reds have overly relied on the services of the revered attacking trifecta of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. But, the lack of any reliable alternative, aside from Xherdan Shaqiri could be a cause for concern for head coach Jurgen Klopp, especially in the congested schedule of English football.

Therefore, the addition of Hazard certainly makes sense as the Belgian can provide Klopp with additional options in the attacking department while he also has the quality to emerge as a first-team player for the Merseyside giants.

As for Arsenal, head coach Unai Emery is believed to be an admirer of Hazard, who can be an ideal fit for the Spaniard’s tactical setup at Emirates next season.

Following the departure of Alexis Sanchez, the Gunners haven’t really been able to find a proper replacement in the wide attacking role while Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be on his way out of the club in the summer.

In addition, this season’s star performer Aaron Ramsey has already agreed a pre-contract to Juventus, thus accentuating the need for a new attacker and that’s where Hazard could come into the fray. The 26-year-old can provide the much-needed dynamism in attack but what makes him such an appealing target for the Gunners is his versatility as he can operate anywhere in the final third.

However, it is likely that the Belgian will be utilized as the left-sided winger, where his tendency to move infield will allow him to link-up with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. Hazard also has a knack for scoring goals, which could bode well for an Arsenal side that are destined to lose at least two of their key attackers next season.

But, as iterated earlier, Hazard has been linked with a move to Dortmund, meaning both of these clubs will have to be a tad lucky and swift in their approach if they are to get hold of the Gladbach superstar this summer.
