Lucas Moura is reportedly the subject of interest from many clubs, with the Brazilian preferring a move to Manchester United over other suitors.
According to ESPN, Lucas Moura has his heart set on a move to Manchester United and is ready to reject advances from other clubs in January. A loan move could be possible, but PSG want to sell the Brazilian to suitors outright.
Lucas Moura has been entirely out of favour at PSG this season under Unai Emery after the Parisian club brought in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe from Barcelona and AS Monaco, respectively, in what were football’s two most expensive transfers of all time.
Owing to a lack of game time and with the World Cup in Russia on the horizon, Lucas Moura would be willing to consider his options and gather some hope of featuring for his country again. Still only aged 25, the player has a long future ahead of him.
Although PSG want to deal with clubs who are tabling offers to buy the player outright rather than a loan, there could be chances he might end up somewhere on loan in January. Manchester United have been long time admirers of the player’s talents, having previously attempted to sign him before he joined PSG, and they have reignited their interest in him.
Manchester United have been in the market for a winger, or a wide player who could make a difference in their attack, which has taken a dip of late. Jose Mourinho wants somebody to add width to their gameplay and views the electric pace and vision of Moura as a solution for United’s problems in the area.
Mourinho’s current options on the right wing – Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan – have been largely inconsistent, making Moura a viable target. Mkhitaryan has been linked with a return to former club Borussia Dortmund, and the need to bolster attack has well and truly arisen.
Lucas Moura and his representatives are aware of the broad interest in him from clubs other than Manchester United. Nice, Bordeaux, Nantes and Real Betis, who he recently rejected are those that are eyeing a move for him.
But, he would prefer a move to Manchester United as the switch would enable him to still compete in Europe with a top club. The level of competition for wide players at United is quite higher, which will also benefit the player who has been competitive at PSG despite their huge outlay on attacking players in recent years.
It now remains to be seen if the player ends up making his way to the Premier League, four years after he moved to PSG instead of Manchester United, or if some other club ends up prising him away.
