Liverpool Team News vs Huddersfield: Reds sweat over Philippe Coutinho fitness

Jurgen Klopp provided a few injury updates ahead of Liverpool’s match against Huddersfield tonight at Anfield

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jurgen Klopp revealed that there were no new injury issues in the squad and that only the long term absentees, i.e, midfielders Saido Mane, Adam Lallana and full-back Nathaniel Clyne were set to miss out this tie.

Speaking about their recoveries, he said that Mane and Lallana could return after the upcoming international break. “After the international break, I think Adam and Sadio are back. It will be close, so hopefully they can train during the international break and be part of the normal training.”

Klopp also confirmed news of Coutinho’s injury and revealed that his involvement would be determined after their last training session. “Last week he had some back problems before the Tottenham game, but then during the week it settled with treatment and all that stuff, so he was fit for the game.”

He went on to say: “This week he had a little bit of problem with the adductor. It’s not clear so far if he is out for tomorrow. We will make the decision today after training. He didn’t train yesterday, that’s true, but that’s all for the moment. There are no other new things[squad injuries].”

Georginio Wijnaldum is also expected to return after missing out on last week’s match against Tottenham due to injury. Huddersfield are not a team to be taken lightly, however it remains to be seen whether Klopp makes some major changes to the side that were swept aside by Tottenham last week.
