Liverpool are among a number of clubs that are interested in and scouting Rosenborg midfielder Olaus Jair Skarsem, who is hailed as a wonderkid.
According to ESPN, Norwegian wonderkid Olaus Jair Skarsem is attracting interest from a host of top European clubs. The player, currently a part of Rosenborg, is on the radar of Liverpool, Everton, West Ham, Brighton, Leicester and several other clubs.
Olaus Jair Skarsem has risen through the ranks at Rosenborg and is currently a part of the Rosenborg-2 squad. The youngster has already managed to make his international debut for Norway up until the under-18s as well and is genuinely regarded as one of the brightest talents in the nation.
The 19-year-old midfielder has already made his first-team debut Rosenborg last year and is now looking to break into and establish himself in the first-team setup firmly.

Skarsem responded to the interest in his talent through an interview published by Adresseavisen.
“It was rather strange and obviously not something I had expected but it’s motivational as well and shows that I’m doing something right, whether there is anything to it or not. It’s nice to be linked with big clubs, but there is very little concrete so it’s not something I can consider.”
The 19-year-old addressed Liverpool in particular, showing his appreciation for the rumours linking him to the Reds while maintaining that his focus lies at Rosenborg, for the near future.
“Of course it’s a big club with a great history. Naturally it would be interesting, but it’s not something I can think about now. I haven’t heard anything, I’ve just read the articles myself. I can’t think about it, I have to focus on Rosenborg.”
All of the aforementioned clubs including AS Roma – one of the many genuine admirers of the youngster’s potential – are expected to have scouts in attendance as Rosenborg take on Viking in the semi-finals of the Under-19 cup.
It’s interesting to note that Liverpool’s interest in Skarsem could also be due to their recently received sanction that prohibits them from recruiting youngsters from within England, which has forced them to scour for foreign recruits, continuously being linked with moves for bright talents.
Skarsem seems to already know his choices well enough, with the player more interested in a future move to England if and when he does decide to leave Rosenborg, despite interest from clubs like AS Roma. Rosenborg, too, are reluctant to let go of the talent so early.
But, the Norwegian giants are bracing themselves for a barrage of offers in the near future from clubs, with so many high-profile clubs monitoring the player’s performance and development closely.
