Olympique Lyonnais superstar Alexandre Lacazette has reportedly undergone his medical at Arsenal on Tuesday ahead of a record summer move to the club.
ESPN are claiming that, as per their sources, Alexandre Lacazette was undergoing his medical at Arsenal on Tuesday, ahead of a summer move. The player will reportedly be joining Arsenal in a transfer that is set to shatter the club record for highest spending on a single transfer target.
Alexandre Lacazette has grown into one of the most prolific forwards in world football. A household name in Ligue 1, the player has been linked with a move to the big clubs for the past 3 seasons – seasons in which Lacazette managed 31, 23 and 37 goals respectively while also notching up a few assists in due course.
The recently concluded season saw Lacazette play the main man for Lyon again as his 37 goals aided the club’s fourth-placed finish in the league while the Ligue 1 outfit came close to mounting a brilliant comeback in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League.

Arsenal have been tailing Lacazette for a while now. The Gunners have Olivier Giroud, who has been prolific for the club. However, Alexis Sanchez’s brief stint up top showed the club just how explosive a more agile forward can be in Arsene Wenger’s setup.
The 26-year-old was also linked with a move to Barcelona and Liverpool while Manchester United was touted as a potential destination as well. However, it is Arsenal that seemed to have taken the lead in the pursuit of Lacazette.
The Gunners seemed to have lost the race to Atletico Madrid but their transfer ban has now seen Wenger and his men comfortably placed as the favourites to land Lacazette. The Frenchman, who has 2 years left on his current deal, is now ever closer to Emirates.

According to the report, the player has undergone his medical on Tuesday at the club before completing the move in a record £45 million deal. The deal will be a huge sign of intent from Wenger and the club going forward and the Gooners would surely be pleased with the club finally breaking the bank to get the players.
The player seems to be hitting his prime form for his age and if all goes well, Arsenal could well see their £45 million being recovered in no time and perhaps with premium as well, albeit in the currency of goals.
