Liverpool are set to rival Stoke City and other prominent English clubs in the summer pursuit of highly-rated Hull City full-back Josh Tymon.
According to ESPN, Liverpool are showing genuine interest in Hull City full-back Josh Tymon. The highly-rated youngster is being tailed by the likes of Stoke City, Watford and Aston Villa as well. However, it looks like the Reds are set to join the trio in the pursuit of the left-back.
Josh Tymon is a product of the Tigers’ academy setup and has progressed rapidly to be a regular part in the first-team. At 18, the player notched up 12 appearances in all competitions in the recently concluded campaign, which saw his side fail to beat the drop.
With Hull City now condemned to Championship football next season, Tymon, who is yet to agree a professional deal with the club, may now seek pastures anew, in order to reserve his Premier League status.
The player is hailed as one of the standout English talents plying his trade in the country right now and seems to have no dearth of suitors either. The 18-year-old has further established his reputation by helping the English Under-20 side win the Toulon Tournament in France in June.

Stoke City were reported to be close to sealing a deal for Tymon, with Mark Hughes eyeing the youngster as a backup and competition for Erik Pieters, the only available option for the former Manchester United player at left-back.
However, Liverpool’s need for left-back has now seen them join the race as well. The Reds have been linked with several left-backs, with reports that the club had an agreement in place for the transfer of Tymon’s teammate Andrew Robertson, a rumour that has since ceded.
While Klopp is looking for a quality option at left-back to relieve James Milner, who can then be deployed in the midfield, Tymon can be a viable option as a cover and to provide competition to whichever player ends up arriving at Anfield.
Tymon will only command a compensation fee according to the regulations, with the player being of an age less than 24. Hence, the 18-year-old could serve to be a cheap solution to the lack of depth at left-back for Liverpool.
However, the likes of Watford and Aston Villa may provide a regular place in their starting eleven, something which may be far more lucrative to the youngster at this age. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool are able to convince the youngster to make the switch to Anfield.
For now, though, Tymon remains a highly sought-after quantity and it wouldn’t be a surprise if other clubs join the race in the days to come.
