Real Madrid scripted history last night by becoming the first side to successfully defend the UEFA Champions League trophy as they subjected Juventus to a 4-1 loss.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a double as he rose to the occasion and helped seal victory for the Spanish giants. Real Madrid also proved that their attack is the strongest right now as they decimated an otherwise impenetrable Juventus defence with ease.
It was a disappointing night for the Italian champions since they put up a dismal performance when it really mattered and fizzled out against Real Madrid’s players. Gianluigi Buffon’s face said it all as the legendary goalkeeper silently made his way back.
They fought hard and came so close to winning their first Champions League title since the 1995/96 season and yet remained so far. In the initial few minutes of the first half, the match looked evenly poised. Even as Mario Mandzukic scored the equalizer, it looked like it was a battle between two equal sides.
However, the second half saw Real Madrid establish their dominion over all aspects of the game and there was nothing Juventus could do to salvage it. Netizens were all over Twitter last night as the Real Madrid fans exploded with joy.

Twitterati were also quick to laud the young Marco Asensio for managing to score against Buffon – a feat that even Lionel Messi has not been able to do.
After such a terrific season, Marco Asensio deserves a Champions League final goal. Marcelo’s really turned it on in the second half. Superb
