Arsene Wenger will continue as manager for the Gunners and has signed a new two-year contract extension with Arsenal
According to a report by Arsenal’s official website, Wenger has ended all speculation regarding his future as Arsenal manager by signing a new two-year contract at the club.
Wenger will kick-off his 22nd season with Arsenal in the upcoming campaign and has won three Premier League titles since joining Arsenal in 1996. However, he has not won a single league title since 2004.
The Gunners have had their share of ups and downs this season as they finished fifth with no Champions League qualification. Anger and frustration was evident among the fans while the critics were quick to point out that it was probably time for Wenger to leave.

However, he strengthened his case for staying by delivering a shock win to snatch the FA Cup despite having to play against Premier League champions Chelsea. That made it Arsenal’s third FA Cup victory in four years.
With the FA Cup victory and new contract in hand, Wenger’s work is far from finished. Arsenal have not had the best of luck in as far as transfers are concerned and the biggest test he will face is during the upcoming transfer window.
Wenger will have to face an uphill battle when it comes to assembling a squad. Arsenal stars Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are expected to leave the club this summer since both players have been demanding higher wages.
Meanwhile, Sanchez had already made it clear that he will look for greener pastures if Arsenal fail to seal a Champions League spot. Both players are yet to commit their futures to the Gunners.
Earlier reports did state that both players will sign new contracts worth in excess of £250,000 a week each, but it remains to be seen if they will accept that or choose to move elsewhere.
The news isn’t good when it comes to other players either. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after a recent upsurge in his performance also seems to be heading for the exit door. Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey’s futures remain uncertain as well.
Other players like David Ospina, Kieran Gibbs, Joel Campbell and Lucas Perez might also seek to move out of the Emirates stadium, and Wenger will have his work cut out for him.
With what seems like a mass exodus on the cards, Wenger will also look to buy top-class players in this transfer window, with left-back Sead Kolasinac from Schalke being one of the prime targets. He has also placed a target sign upon Virgil van Dijk from Southampton.
