Liverpool are reportedly leading the chase to sign Arsenal superstar Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the summer as Jurgen Klopp looks to add depth to the squad.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for a while now. And, as per The Sun, the Reds are leading the chase to land the Arsenal superstar, who is likely to cost around £20 million – an amount Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to hesitate at, given the ability and potential of the player.
One of the major factors that could see the transfer happening is Arsenal’s failure and Liverpool’s success at gaining Champions League football for the upcoming campaign. The Ox would love to keep improving by going up against the very best and Champions League football is a major aid in the process.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was signed amidst much anticipation and expectancy, as the Gunners beat Manchester United to the player. However, the player has only shown his talent in spades and had failed to establish himself as a starter in the first-team, until Arsene Wenger’s recent switch to a 3-4-2-1 formation.
The switch saw Oxlade-Chamberlain excel in the wing-back slot and the player became Wenger’s first-choice at the position. However, his most recent injury bout saw him bow out for the rest of the season and there is a sense that the player may have already played his last competitive game for Arsenal, with clubs circling the player.

While Manchester United and Everton were both linked with the player in recent times, it is Liverpool that are leading the pack in the pursuit of the 23-year-old, who has clocked in 44 appearances this season, with a return of 6 goals and 11 assists in the process.
Jurgen Klopp needs a player who can be equally adept at playing in the central midfield as well as on the wings, especially with Coutinho and Emre Can continuously linked with a summer exit from the club. Chamberlain’s vision combined with his pace and directness is something Liverpool can use to challenge for top honours.
Also, the Ox would slot well into Klopp’s footballing philosophy and his preference to field passionate players, with Chamberlain himself being a player who wears his heart on his sleeve.
At 23, the player represents a potential long-term addition to Liverpool and would also add to the English core of the squad. Chamberlain, recently, has seemed intent on making a mark and the player has earlier iterated that he will not hesitate from moving to another club in search of better opportunities.
Liverpool are a club that is starting to move forward under Jurgen Klopp and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be a potent addition to the already-fledgling squad at Anfield.
