Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in River Plate forward Lucas Alario, who has been on the radar of Liverpool and Tottenham for a while now.
ESPN have reported that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Lucas Alario. The River Plate forward, who was linked with the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham earlier in the summer, is now seemingly on the radar of the French champions.
Alario’s agent, Pedro Aldave, has confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain director Patrick Kluivert has been in regular contact and has been keeping an eye on the player. Aldave added, though, that there has been no concrete developments and that their interest remains just that, for now, at least.
Aldave spoke, at length to Foot Mercato, regarding his client and the possibility of him joining Paris Saint-Germain.
“There was contact with Kluivert a while ago now but there has been no offer made for now. Are PSG a good option? Yes, of course. However, we need to see what is going on in January. Other European clubs are interested,” he said.
Along with Paris Saint-Germain, it is thought that the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Inter Milan, who were linked with the player earlier in the summer, are all retaining interest in the player.
Liverpool are in the market looking for a forward to cope with Coutinho’s injury and Sadio Mane’s impending unavailability during January, thanks to the African Cup of Nations. Tottenham, on the other hand, have been disappointed by Vincent Janssen’s impact or lack thereof since his summer move and are looking to add attacking options.
Aldave, though, reiterated that he and his client are in no rush to take a hurried decision and will be assessing their options in January. Alario’s agent also affirmed that the attacker is fully focused towards his current duties at River Plate but that the ultimate aim is to arrive in Europe.
It would be interesting to see whether Paris Saint-Germain’s Argentinian camp of Angel Di Maria, Javier Pastore and Giovani Lo Celso is enough for Alario to choose the French giants over the charm of the Premier League.
