The Real Madrid star will be extending his stay at the club after an agreement between both the parties was reached.
Noted Spanish journalist, Guillem Balague, in a report for Sky Sports has revealed Real Madrid’s all time top-scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to further extend his career with the club after accepting the club’s new offer. Cristiano Ronaldo’s current contract was set to expire in June, 2018 and the agreement for the new deal had been in place for months, as per the report. Although, the length of the extension – either two years or three years isn’t clear just yet.
With fresh Presidential elections set to take place at the club in February 2017, current President Florentino Perez is waiting for the right time to make the announcement official, so as to aid his bid for the elections.
While Ronaldo’s current displays might not be as good as the ones we have seen before, he still continues to score at a breath-taking rate. His conversion from a well-rounded forward to an out and out goalscorer divides opinion among the neutrals, but no one can doubt his contribution as the driving force to propel his club to newer heights culminating into historic Champions League victories in 2014 and 2016.
The player also added individual honours by winning the Ballon d’Or twice in the process. Ronaldo’s record for Real Madrid makes for an impressive viewing – a mind-boggling 368 goals in 355 appearances as well as 116 assists in the same time.
With the Madrid based club being handicapped with a transfer ban, it was of pivotal importance to keep hold of their stars and the club has done just that by announcing extensions for Toni Kroos and Luka Modric while opening talks with Gareth Bale for a new contract.
And, now as per the report, they are on course to renew the contract of perhaps the most important star in their current roster, both in footballing and financial terms.
