Premier League giants Manchester City are keeping tabs on the Bayern Munich youngster, who is currently on loan at the club from Italian champions Juventus.
According to Calciomercato (h/t Daily Star), Manchester City are keeping tabs on Juventus winger Kingsley Coman. Currently on a two-year loan at Bayern Munich, the midfielder prospered under the tutelage of City boss Pep Guardiola during his days at the Allianz Arena.
The French attacker joined Bayern Munich at the start of last season. After showing tremendous promise in the Serie A with Juventus, Coman quickly adapted to the fast-paced and physical German top tier and became a vital cog in Guardiola’s system at Bayern. The Spaniard managed to bring the best out of his loan signing and did an exceptional job in alternating him on both flanks.
Coman’s performances with Bayern attracted the attention of France coach Didier Deschamps, who named him in the 23-man squad for the European Championships. The young forward featured in six of Les Bleus‘ eight matches and was key in their run to the final.
With Guardiola parting ways with Bayern to take up the Manchester City job, Coman has been used a fringe player by new manager Carlo Ancelotti. After being injured for the entirety of Bayern’s pre-season, Coman has fallen down in the pecking order at the club and could fancy a reunion with Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City already have an array of wingers at their disposal, but Coman could prove to be an improvement on a number of them. Raheem Sterling has made a good start to the season, but has the tendency of facing lapses in form. Jesus Navas looks to be way past his prime and has slowed down considerably over the years.
Leroy Sane and Nolito joined City in the summer, moving from FC Schalke and Celta Vigo respectively. While the former has shown promise initially, doubts still remain over whether he can adapt to life in the Premier League. Nolito too has been erratic with his form of late after starting the season in blistering form.
Having been a part of Guardiola’s system in the past, Coman would take little time to adapt to the manager’s philosophy in Manchester and could prove to be an effective signing for the former Barcelona coach.
