Manchester United have reportedly taken 16-year-old Brazilian youngster Matheus Marcosi on trial at the club.
Daily Mail have claimed that Manchester United have taken Brazilian youngster Matheus Marcosi on trial at the club. The versatile prodigy currently plays in his home country for Deportivo Brasil, a club which has a tie-up with the Red Devils.
Marcosi has had previous spells at United as a part of the tie-up with Deportivo Brasil and the Premier League outfit has called the 16-year-old up again to England with an aim to take another look at the player’s talent and potential.
Marcosi would hope to impress the coaches at United’s Carrington training centre including current youth chief Nicky Butt and youth coach Kieran McKenna. The 16-year-old is likely to wish to force the club into offering him a deal with his talent and on-field display.
Matheus Marcosi is a talented youngster with the ability to play both in the defence and midfield, which could prove to be a valuable addition to the club’s current youth squad.

The current under-18 squad already boasts of talents from all across the world with Lee O’Conner, Indy Boonen, Tahith Chong and Nishan Burkart from Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands and Switzerland respectively. Besides Boonen, the other three have joined the squad earlier this summer and have already started impressing the coaches at Manchester United.
Manchester United had started the overhaul of their academy setup back in the summer and have seen many changes to the squad and staff roster. The three arrivals mentioned above along with Kieran McKenna are all part of the recruitment drive overseen by Nicky Butt and Marcosi could be set to be the next addition to the talented group of young individuals.
However it is not yet certain if the Brazilian will be offered a contract by the Red Devils after his trial ends as he could be sent home again like last time. But one would hope that United does offer a deal to Marcosi, which would not only add a versatile Brazilian to the squad but also highlight the benefits of the tie up with the player’s parent club Deportivo Brasil.
