Juventus youngster Grigoris Kastanos’s agent has reportedly played down talks of Manchester United’s interest in the player
It’s been two years since Grigoris Kastanos secured a move to Italian giants Juventus, joining their academy from Cyprian club Enosis Neon Paralimni. The player has since grown leaps and bounds and became a full Cyprus international by appearing for the senior team at the age of 17.
Kastanos is yet to feature for Juventus’ senior squad but was a part of their pre-season tour squad for this season and the player has been touted as a future first-team player for the club. The 18-year-old has drawn real interest from the Premier League with clubs like Manchester United and Everton interested in the player.
Much has been talked about Manchester United’s interest, but the player’s agent, Yanni Evangelopoulos, has quashed such speculation as he talked to ESPN.
Yanni said, “ I know nothing about interest from Manchester United and Everton apart from what I have seen in the media. Grigoris, although young, is on a professional contract at Juventus and he was with the first team this summer on preseason.”
The teenager’s agent also cleared that while he and the player were appreciative of United’s interest, Kastanos is currently focused on developing himself at Juventus with an aim of making it into the senior squad at the club.
“ It is nice to hear of reported interest from other clubs, but Juventus are also a big club — in the top 10 in Europe in my opinion. Grigoris is focused on developing at Juventus and trying to do his best for them,” Evangelopoulos told ESPN.
The player has been billed as the next big thing and there are high hopes from the 18-year-old back in his home country, Cyprus. Kastanos is also highly regarded by the coaches at Juventus, and Manchester United’s interest in the youngster further adds weight to the teenager’s potential.
Only time will tell if the player is able to fulfill his potential and grow into the future superstar he is tipped to become and whether the player decides to move elsewhere in the near future. For now though, it seems that the player is determined to keep his head down and focus on the task ahead, which is to break into the first-team fold under Max Allegri.
