Bollywood actor and global icon Shah Rukh Khan in talks to acquire I-League giants Mohun Bagan.
The superstar had expressed the idea of owning a football team in Kolkata and that may soon turn to reality as talks over a possible takeover of Mohun Bagan are in the process.
Several rounds of talks between the superstar’s representatives and the club management have taken place. According to reports, the Mariners’ camp revealed that though several prospective buyers had shown interest in acquiring the 127 year old Kolkata club, SRK – as he is popularly known – was the closest.
“We are in talks with many parties for takeover. However, at this point in time, I wouldn’t take a name as to who we have met for discussions,” claimed a source close to Debashish Dutta, a key figure at the 2015 I-League champions.
If the deal does go through, it would be a huge boost for the Kolkata based club as they have been in search of a new owner for quite a while.

In the wake of the recent turn of events and after lengthy consultation with the Bengaluru Police, the AFC and the AIFF, we at Bengaluru FC have had to take an extremely difficult decision of playing Wednesday’s AFC Cup quarterfinal against Tampines Rovers at the Kanteerava Stadium, behind closed doors.”
The five-time S. League Champions will be the happier of the two sides as they would not have to face a daunting Bengaluru crowd. The Stags will be looking to advance to the quarter-final stages for the first time themselves when they host Bengaluru in the second leg in Singapore, due to take place on 21st September.

The Tournament Director of the AFC U-16 Championships Mr. Javier Ceppi has revealed that Star network have agreed to telecast India’s games against UAE, Saudi Arabia and Iran on television.
