Moussa Sissoko on the brink of completing £30m switch to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of completing the deadline day signing of Moussa Sissoko from Championship side Newcastle United.

Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur have not enjoyed the best of starts to the 2016/17 season. With only one win from three matches, Mauricio Pochettino’s side find themselves in seventh position on the table.

Spurs have struggled this season due to injuries to Hugo Lloris and Mousa Dembele coupled with Harry Kane and Dele Alli’s failure to find form. With only two signings made this summer in Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama, Pochettino is looking to make additions to his squad on the final day of the window.

Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko has been heavily talked about throughout the window, and it finally seems that his transfer saga has come to its end. The French midfielder was on the verge of moving to Liverpool and was also keen on joining Real Madrid.

According to the French national team’s Twitter handle (h/t ESPN), the 27-year-old has left the training camp in order to complete his transfer to White Hart Lane.

As per Sky Sports, Tottenham are on the verge of completing a £30 million signing for the player, but it is still not official as the two parties continue to negotiate. Sissoko will be a highly influential signing for Tottenham as he would bring a lot of creativity and versatility to the table. A central midfielder by trade, Sissoko has recently been playing as a winger for club and country.

Given the injury to Dembele, Sissoko could easily slot into the heart of midfield and play the box-to-box role. He could also tuck into the left wing and move Christian Eriksen to a central role, thus increasing his impact over proceedings.

The current Newcastle midfielder’s tireless running during games and his intensity would make him an ideal fit for Pochettino’s style of football at Tottenham Hotspur.
