Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly turned down an offer for Harry Kane from Serie A giants Napoli, who are looking for a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain.
According to renowned Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli have seen a bid for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane turned down. The Italian side are looking to find a replacement for Gonzalo Higuain, after the Argentine forward moved to Juventus last month for a club record fee.
Higuain’s departure has left the Partenopei with a dearth of quality strikers. Despite making the big-money signing of Poland striker Arkadiusz Milik, it seems manager Maurizio Sarri is intent on signing a world-class striker.
Kane, who is coming off the back of a woeful European Championships campaign, is still the first-choice at White Hart Lane. Mauricio Pochettino did rope in Dutch forward Vincent Jannsen from AZ Alkmaar, but he will only serve as a replacement to the English striker.

Pochettino sees Kane as a part of his long term plans at the club and believes that the striker will be key to Spurs’ title challenge this season. Thus, when an offer from Napoli was received, it was turned down without a moment’s hesitation.
The 22-year-old played a pivotal role in guiding Spurs to their highest ever league finish of third in 2015/16. Kane scored 25 goals in 38 appearances for his side and ended up winning the Premier League Golden Boot.
Given Spurs’ inability to hold on to star players in the past, it seems manager Pochettino has convinced Kane that he is at White Hart Lane for the long haul. Their latest big name export was Gareth Bale, who joined Real Madrid for £80 million — a world record fee at the time of the transfer.
After scoring more than twenty goals for two consecutive seasons in what is one of the most competitive leagues in the world, Kane has already cemented himself as one of the league’s best strikers. Also, the 22-year-old has been accustomed to a certain fast-paced nature of football and could struggle in a relatively slower and more tactical league if he does move to the Serie A.
