Transfer Rumour: West Brom plot £7 million move for Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor

In an effort to bolster their defense, West Bromwich Albion are planning to swoop in for highly rated Leeds United full back Charlie Taylor, and are willing to pay £7 million for the Englishman.

The defender is a versatile player who can also play as a left winger. Leeds will need to retain his kind of talent in the team as they have not made that good a start in the Championship.

They have just four points from four games, their first win coming in the last match against Luton Town. They are now languishing in the 19th position and manager Gary Monk will do everything he can to hold on to Taylor.

West Brom, though, were undone by Everton in their last match as set pieces continue to be one of their main weaknesses. To combat such situations, Charlie Taylor would be a great addition to the squad.

Indeed, the opportunity to play in the Premier League might entice Taylor to make a switch, but a transfer request has already been rejected by the club.

Taylor, though, has one year left on his contract, and has refused to talk over an improved deal to stay with the Championship side.

Speaking to the The Yorkshire Evening Post, Taylor said,”Once the transfer window’s closed, I’ll either not be at Leeds or definitely will be at Leeds. Then I can get my head around the fact either way and concentrate on the football. It’s hard at the minute with what’s going on. The gaffer has been brilliant. He’s said he understands and said that he’s got 100 per cent faith in me whenever he picks me. Whatever happens, I’ll do the best I can.”

Taylor has also attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool and Middlesbrough. It will be interesting to see how things pan out for the youngster. He has played all four matches so far for Leeds in the Championship.
