PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi is reportedly close to completing a transfer to Juventus in a deal worth €34m including add-ons and bonuses.
French publication L’Equipe have reported on Wednesday that Juventus are close to completing the transfer of PSG’s star midfielder Blaise Matuidi. According to the report, talks between Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are at an advanced stage, with a deal worth €30m with an additional €4m in add-ons close to being agreed.
Juventus were unable to keep hold of their superstar Paul Pogba as Manchester United swooped in to sign their former academy player for a world-record transfer fee. The Serie A champions have since been on the lookout for a replacement for the French international.
Juventus were linked strongly with a move for Blaise Matuidi ever since the sale of Paul Pogba, with the PSG midfielder reportedly telling the club hierarchy that he wanted a move. Now, amidst uncertainty over the 29-year-old’s spot in the starting lineup under new manager Unai Emery, L’Equipe are reporting that Matuidi could finally be on the move to Turin to replace his compatriot.
The French international has been a regular starter for the Ligue 1 champions ever since making the switch from fellow French club AS Saint-Etienne, but the player is yet to start in the two matches PSG have played this season.
Matuidi was his usual assured self at the recently concluded European Championships for France, as he featured in all of the matches for the hosts, starting six of them. The PSG star was a rock in midfield during the hosts’ run to the final of the tournament, where they eventually fell to Portugal in a heart-breaking extra-time loss.
The 29-year-old is believed to have hinted on a transfer to Juventus through an instagram post, which is in line with L’Equipe’s report. It seems more and more certain that the Italian giants will finally get their hands on Matuidi in an attempt to fill the void left by superstar Paul Pogba.
