Chennaiyin FC sign Hans Mulder
Indian Super League (ISL) champions Chennaiyin FC have signed former Delhi Dynamos midfielder Hans Mulder for the upcoming season of the franchise-based tournament.
The 29-year-old Dutch-Spanish midfielder has been a regular for the Delhi Dynamos in the first two seasons of the ISL. However, despite his good performances, Mulder is yet to win the coveted silverware or even reach the final of the tournament.

“Mulder had two very consistent seasons in the ISL. We were keen to add his quality and experience in our midfield this year. So we are very happy to have signed him and believe in him to have another strong campaign,” Super Machans’ coach Marco Materazzi was quoted as saying on Chennayin’s official website.
Mulder brings a wealth of experience into the Chennaiyin midfield, having played in the Dutch Eredivisie. More recently, the 29-year-old has been spending his time in the Danish Superliga with FC Nordsjælland.
Bhowanipur, Southern Samity share the spoils
Moving on to the oldest league in Indian football, Calcutta Football League, the match between Bhowanipur SC and Southern Samity ended in a goalless draw at the Vidyasagar Stadium, in Barasat near Kolkata, on Saturday.
Newly promoted Bhowanipur started off on the front foot, as they looked to set up Nigerian forward Orok Orok Essien for their first goal of the tournament. However, the weather soon started to take a toil on the players, with the temperature hitting 32°C and the humidity at a high 71 per cent. Hence the referee called for a water break around the half-hour mark.
At the other end, Ashim Biswas looked to threaten to score for Southern Samity, but Bhowanipur custodian Bubai stood firm between the sticks. The two teams required another drinks break on the 80th minute mark, even as the game petered out to a tame 0-0 finish.
Zico to coach FC Goa for a third consecutive season
Brazil football legend Zico has reached an agreement with ISL franchise FC Goa to be their head coach for the third season of the ISL, according to a report in the Times of India.
Zico has already spent two successful campaigns with the Gaurs, managing to guide them to the final of last season’s ISL which they eventually lost to Chennai.
According to the TOI report, FC Goa had wanted to tie Zico down to a longer deal, but the former Brazil international still requires some convincing for this. However, Zico has agreed in principle to be the manager for the 2016 ISL season.
