Barcelona’s sporting director Robert Fernandez officially confirmed that Dani Alves will leave the Nou Camp after eight hugely successful years at the club.

In an official statement issued on Thursday, Barcelona confirmed that Dani Alves will leave the club after eight years of service, having arrived from Sevilla back in 2008. In that period, the Brazilian has assumed a legendary status at the club, helping the Blaugrana to 23 trophies during his time.

The full-back has been linked with a Camp Nou exit for a while now, with Juventus rumoured to be in the driving seat for the 33-year-old. The news was met with a wave of tributes and support for Alves, who featured in 391 games for Barcelona, scoring 21 goals and racking up 102 assists as he established himself as one of the best full-backs in the world during his time at the club.

The fans were left recalling some of the Brazilian’s best moments in a Barcelona shirt as he bids farewell to the club.

The announcement of his Barcelona exit opened the floodgates on reports linking him to a number of potential suitors, with Juventus seemingly the most likely to land the player’s signature.
