Serie A champions Juventus are reportedly eyeing Real Madrid midfielders Toni Kroos and Mateo Kovacic in a bid to add more technical ability to their midfield.
The latest players to be linked with a move to Turin this summer are Real Madrid duo Toni Kroos and Mateo Kovacic. According to a report in Football Italia, Juventus sporting director Beppe Marotta is set to meet with the Real Madrid management this week. The top priority of the meeting is expected to be the transfer of Alvaro Morata, but the report claims that moves for other players will be discussed as well, with the Biaconeri interested in acquiring the services of Germany international Toni Kroos and Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
Mateo Kovacic has endured a difficult season at Real Madrid, starting only 8 league games in the recently concluded season. The 22-year-old moved to the Santiago Bernabeu last summer from Inter Milan, but things haven’t gone according to plan. He was left out of the Champions League final squad and his difficulties this season have seen him linked with a return to the Serie A. The midfielder has fuelled speculation over his future, claiming “anything can happen in life” (via Football Italia).
Toni Kroos’ first season was one to forget, but his second campaign with Los Blancos has been extremely successful, with the German midfielder helping his side to their 11th Champions League title. He was an integral part of Los Blancos’ European success, forming a great partnership in midfield with Luka Modric. However, he has been linked with moves away from the Bernabeu recently — including to Manchester City (via Daily Star) — with suggestions that Florentino Perez could be interested in signing Paul Pogba as a replacement.
The Old Lady’s European quest
Juventus have been looking for players who can help further strengthen an already strong squad. According to AS, their director Beppe Marotta has confirmed talks to bring in Barcelona’s Dani Alves. This is testament to their intent on constantly growing and the desire to attain Champions League glory after continued domestic domination.
Kroos and Kovacic are not the only Real Madrid players to be linked with a move to Juventus this term. Isco and Danilo were also linked with summer moves to the Biaconeri. Juve are resigned to losing Alvaro Morata to Real Madrid this season, but will look to try and soften the blow by negotiating a deal for one of Real’s Galacticos as they look to try and build on their Serie A supremacy.
