Bayern Munich have one of the best squads in Europe at the moment, but incoming boss Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly looking to sign Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez to strengthen the team further.
Ancelotti, who has been on a sabbatical since his sacking from Real Madrid, is set to take over as Bayern Munich manager from the start of next season, with current manager Pep Guardiola moving to Manchester City.
According to AS Futbol Chile, Ancelotti is a big fan of Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez and has made the Chilean his top target for the summer transfer window ahead of the 2016-17 season.
Sanchez has impressed over the years at Barcelona and Arsenal and started the 2015-16 season for the Gunners in brilliant form. However, a hamstring injury ruled him out for several weeks of the campaign, halting the momentum he had started to build up.
His form upon returning from injury was poor, but there are signs that he is getting back to his best, with the Chilean scoring three goals and providing four assists in his last seven games for Arsenal.
Do Bayern Munich really need another winger?
With the amount of quality that Bayern Munich have in their squad, a big-name signing often seems excess to requirements. Indeed, in Sanchez’s position, the Bavarians currently have the likes of Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, Douglas Costa, Mario Gotze and Kinglsey Coman among others.
However, Gotze is said to be looking for a move away from the Bavarian club, while Robben and Ribery are both on the wrong side of 30 and are known to be injury-prone. At 27, Sanchez is at the peak of his career and would be a great addition to the Bayern Munich side, particularly if Ancelotti decides to adopt a more direct style of play than Guardiola.
