Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri bemoaned certain aspects of his side’s performance against Torino despite an emphatic win over their city rivals.
Goals from Paul Pogba and Sami Khedira gave the Bianconeri a two-goal cushion heading into half time at a raucous Stadio Olimpico di Torino. Torino striker Andrea Belotti cut the Old Lady’s lead to half after beating record-breaker Gianluigi Buffon from the penalty spot early in the second half.
Fellow striker Maxi Lopez — who came on for Ciro Immobile during the half-time interval — scored immediately afterwards, but his goal was incorrectly ruled offside by the linesman, much to the anguish of the Torino faithful. Subsequently, Spaniard Alvaro Morata scored twice in the 2nd half to seal an emphatic 4-1 win for Allegri’s men over their bitter rivals.
Allegri bewails ‘immature’ Juventus despite easy win
Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri bemoaned the casual nature of his side’s performance against Torino despite recording an impressive 4-1 win on the night.
“It was a fine victory, especially as we managed to put the [Bayern] Munich blow [when Juventus bowed out of the Champions League] behind us,” said Allegri (as reported by goal.com).
“It’s just a shame we went for too many solo moves and dribbles when Torino were struggling. We need to improve in that sense, as we are still too immature and think the situation is easy.
“I understand they [Torino] were upset, as we were after Wednesday in the Champions League. I never usually talk about referees and I think two incidents do not take away from the good things we did in this game.
“After the Maxi Lopez goal we continued playing and Torino sat back to wait, so it didn’t really change anything.”

Juventus show great spirit following a painful European exit
Massimiliano Allegri’s men showed tremendous spirit and character against derby rivals Torino following a heart -breaking Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich in midweek. On the brink of a place in the quarter-finals with minutes remaining, the Bianconeri eventually went on to lose the tie in extra time and crashed out of Europe in a painful fashion.
An emphatic 4-1 win over bitter rivals Torino acted as the perfect antidote for their European hangover, as Juventus cemented their place at the top of the Serie A going into the international break. With Napoli hot on their heels in the race to win the Scudetto, the Old Lady cannot afford to drop performance levels, and Sunday’s win was another step in the right direction.
