AC Milan manager Sinisa Mihajlovic has made an ominous statement about the Liverpool striker, who is on loan at the Serie A club, after their 2-1 victory over Genoa.
The Italian striker has not had much of an impact on AC Milan’s fortunes this season as he continued to misfire in their Serie A match against Genoa on Sunday. With the Rossoneri leading 2-0, Balotelli was brought on in place of Carlos Bacca, but had the opposite effect than what was intended by tge manager.
Genoa scored a goal before the match ended and this was enough to convince AC Milan manager Sinisa Mihajlovic that certain players were no longer needed to play for the club.
“We should’ve scored a third goal and not risked at the end. It is also my fault, as those who don’t sacrifice themselves for the team to the 94th minute will no longer set foot on the field.”, said Mihaljlovic after the match, according to the Liverpool Echo.
“It wasn’t just Balotelli, there were another two or three as well as him, they know who I’m talking about.”
Super Mario isn’t super anymore
After a promising start to his career, Mario Balotelli seems to have fizzled out, bouncing from one club to another without making much of an impact at any of them. He is currently contracted to Liverpool, but having scored just two goals for them last season, the Italian was loaned out to AC Milan in the hope that he would find his goal-scoring form. The 25-year-old has instead scored the same number of goals for the Rossoneri in 11 appearances in the Serie A.
Balotelli will most likely be heading back to Liverpool at the end of this season, with one year still left on his contract. It remains to be seen whether Jurgen Klopp can work his magic on him, or whether this will turn out to be another insignificant tenure at a club for the striker.
