Liverpool FC’s Brazilian attacker Roberto Firmino has beaten Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney and Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane to the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for January.
Having signed in the summer for Liverpool FC from Hoffenheim, Firmino had initially found things tough. However, the attacker came into his own in January, scoring as many as four goals in the Premier League, including a stunning curling shot in a brace against Arsenal FC that left Petr Cech stranded.
He also scored twice against Norwich as Liverpool FC won 5-4 in a thrilling tie at Anfield, which saw Adam Lallana score a late goal.
Firmino beats Rooney, Kane for the award
The Liverpool attacker beat off competition from Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, who scored 4 times in the League too.
Rooney’s brace against Newcastle United was vital in ensuring a point for the Old Trafford outfit, with strikes against Swansea and arch-rivals Liverpool FC ensuring a win for Louis van Gaal’s men.
Harry Kane’s form earned him a top three spot as well, with the Spurs man scoring thrice in the Premier League in January.
