Reports in the British media suggest London giants Chelsea FC remain keen on Leicester City’s breakout star Jamie Vardy, and the Blues could use Foxes target Loïc Rémy as bait in order to complete the move before the January transfer window deadline.
Leicester City have been the story of the Premier League season thus far, and England striker Jamie Vardy has been a major contributor to the Foxes’ incredible success. His performances and goals this season have seen him earn an international call-up, while the top clubs in the Premier League — Chelsea FC being one of them — have taken a keen interest in the 29-year-old.
Claudio Ranieri’s men still find themselves atop the league table, and the Italian is reportedly keen to add another striker to his current options. According to English newspaper Daily Mirror, Chelsea FC might use this as a bargaining tool in a deal for Jamie Vardy.
The Mirror report suggests that Leicester City have already made a £7.6 million bid for Blues’ French striker Loïc Rémy, but remain extremely reluctant to let the Premier League’s top scorer leave in the January window. The league leaders — who will face a battle to keep the likes of Riyad Mahrez at the club in the near future — have slapped a £30 million price-tag on Vardy to prevent any domestic rivals from picking him up in the January window, and thus far, it appears the Foxes have played their cards right.

Vardy move extremely unlikely with Pato’s imminent arrival
Alexandre Pato has been pictured in London and has reportedly also completed a medical with Chelsea FC ahead of what is expected to be a six-month loan move from Brazilian club Corinthians. Given the former AC Milan striker will swell Guus Hiddink’s ranks up front, it is difficult to see the Blues making a move for Jamie Vardy.

Even though Radamel Falcao could well have played his last game for the club, Rémy remains an adequate back-up to Diego Costa, and over-spending on a short-term back-up like Vardy would make little sense from Chelsea’s point of view. Meanwhile, Vardy himself would probably much prefer fighting for the title for the remainder of the season with Leicester, and then potentially playing in Champions League next season, to struggling to a top-half finish with Chelsea FC this term.
