Liverpool FC’s Missed Chances Against Manchester United Frustrate Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp was left completely frustrated after Liverpool FC narrowly lost to bitter rivals Manchester United at Anfield, and the German was left ruing the missed chances.

Overall, Liverpool FC had played a much better game than Manchester United, but the away side managed to nick a win right at the end, with a volley from Wayne Rooney.

“It’s a derby and in a derby you only have one job to do and that is to win to have any chance of being satisfied after the game,” Klopp was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“If United were to talk about their performance, they would say it’s not that good but they won so they are really happy. We played better but we feel really frustrated because of the result.”

Poor finishing was Liverpool FC’s doom

While Klopp did praise his playmakers for the number of chances that his team created, the former Borussia Dortmund manager also went on to say that had it not been for the poor finishing, his side might have won this game.

“The performance and a lot of things we did today were really good. Creating chances was good, finishing was not, otherwise we would have scored a goal,” said Klopp.

Champions League a distant possibility?

Liverpool FC have now slipped eight points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently occupying the fourth position. While the result at Anfiled gave Manchester United some sort of hope for a top-four finish, things look quite bleak from Liverpool FC’s perspective. It would be interesting to see whether or not Klopp manages to get significant reinforcements in the winter transfer window and to make improvements to the team’s results.
