Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has suggested that Real Madrid’s transfer ban by FIFA will be overturned later this week.
Both, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are banned from registering players till the next two transfer windows. The clubs have been reprimanded following an alleged violation of the international transfer and registration of players aged under 18.
Zidane labels ban “absurd”, confident of getting it overturned.
Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s clash against Sporting Gijon, Zidane was quoted saying by ESPN FC:
“It seems absurd because I’ve been here in Madrid my whole life with my family and kids.
“Everything’s going to be resolved and what’s important is to find out what’s happened. I’m sure that next week we won’t be talking about it any more.”
Zidane “annoyed” by the ban
The Real Madrid and France legend has four of his son playing for the academy, and says that he fails to understand the ruling.
He said: “I feel a little annoyed, there are things that are very difficult to accept and which are absurd but I can’t let it affect me. Next week everything is going to be resolved. It doesn’t make any sense. It’s an error. What’s important now is to talk about the football.
There has been suggestions that Real Madrid would somehow wriggle his way out of the ban, and the latest statement by Zidane will provoke those who had backed the theory, especially FC Barcelona supporters, to feel hard done by given that the Catalans were banned for a similar offence.
